chester cathedral

I currently work about 2 minutes walk from Chester Cathedral, in a big tower block called Commerce House. Since I have worked there since July 2003 (it's now late November 2005), I thought I'd walk around it one lunchtime and take some photos. The light was late-november dull, but I still managed to (I think) capture some of the amazing detail of the building.

Title: cathedral reflection
Notes: Chester Cathedral, or part of it, reflected in the windows of the McDonalds restaurant which is located directly opposite the cathedral. Old meets new / religion meets capitalism / cliche meets cliche / etc. etc.

Title: sturdy corner i
Notes: Detail of part of the catherdral. I really love the detail here, and how sturdy and permanent it makes the building looks. This is a very wide photo, more to try and convey how big the building is.

Notes: Detail of a door leading into the cathedral. If you are a fan of Lord of the Rings, do you think this looks like it could be a door leading into the Mines of Moria?
