Hills, they're pretty photogenic really aren't they? All my hills are from the UK. I know some of them are really mountains, but I've lumped them all together as hills. After I graduated I wanted to be a countryside Ranger, and spent 3 months volunteering for Scottish Natural Heritage, to get some experience.

I spent a wonderful summer walking up mountains in the Creag Meagaidh National Nature Reserve, counting deer, mending fences, fixing paths... It was such a beautiful place to work. At one point, I remember walking up to the top of Creag Meagaidh (about 1,400 metres) on a perfectly clear summer's morning in August. I was at the top by 8am and thought, well, I am so lucky here. The rest of the UK is starting to commute to work, and here I am up a mountain. That was before I came to my senses and realised I'd be much happier working in an office for the rest of my life!

Notes: This is the path up Skiddaw. It was a dreary trudge, more like walking up a big mound of shale. But wow! Run the 'equalise' option on Photoshop and it looks like something from another world.

Notes: The hill in the far distance is called Shining Tor, and is on the way to a pub called the Cat and Fiddle, near Buxton. The pubs claim to fame is that it's the second highest pub in the UK. The highest one is somewhere in Yorkshire. This photo is taken from the top of Shutlinsloe, which is one 'hills003', the photo above this one in the menu...

Notes: The pointy hill is called Shutlingsloe, and is located on the Western edge on the Peak District, a few miles from Macclesfield. It's also known as the Matterhorn of Cheshire. There's a nice snowy hill in the distance too, which is on my 'hills004' photo, which is the next one down on the list from this one.
